Afridi hopes to see Shoaib return home with Sania

Lahore, Apr 5 (KMW) Even as Shoaib Malik's problems continue to mount in India, Pakistan's Twenty20 skipper Shahid Afridi hopes to see his teammate back home soon with Sania Mirza as his bride.Shoaib has been engaged in a legal dispute after an FIR was filed against him for trying to get married to Indian tennis star Sania Mirza without taking a formal divorce from his alleged first wife Ayesha iddiqui.''Now that he has gone to India, he should come back with his bride,'' Afridi told media persons here today. The former Pakistan captain was today questioned by the Hyderabad police for close to two hours and his passport has also been seized although, Shoib claimed that he will get it back by this evening.Afirdi, who is on a probation period and was fined for indiscipline and ball tampering during Pakistan's tour Down Under, also made it clear that he will not move the court and would rather consult the PCB in the penalties that have been imposed on him.''I don't want to make an issue of this fine and I will try to resolve it myself. I don't want to hire a lawyer as it will only complicate matters,'' he said. For his ball-tampering incident, the all-rounder was penalised by the ICC and Afridi said he would like the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to make him understand as to how he can be punished twice for the same offense.’ If I am satisfied with their answer I will not pursue this case any further.’ The board has taken its decision, some players have been banned and some have been fined but I have told the players they must get over this phase and focus on doing well in the Twenty20 World Cup where we have to defend our title,'' Afridi added. Afridi will lead Pakistan in the World Twenty20 as the team heads to the West Indies to defend its title and he said the punishments will not have an adverse effect on the performance of the players during the event.''We all are professionals and we are expected to do well for our country. We will fight and overcome these hurdles,'' Afridi stressed.
