Infiltration bid foiled by security forces in Samba sector

Jammu, May 1: Security apparatus was beefed up after five-hour-long intermittent firing from Pakistan side on a BSF’s outpost along the International Border (IB) in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir early today, official sources said.

Ballard Post of the BSF in Samba sector came under firing at 2300 hrs last night, which continued intermittently till 0400 hrs this morning, an official source told UNI.

The guards on duty challenged three suspected militants on the other side of border who resorted to firing from automatic weapons, the source said, adding the fire was retaliated which forced them to escape back to Pakistan side.

Following the cross border firing, the security apparatus was further strengthened and special check points were established on the Jammu-Pathankot national highway NH-1A in the district.

‘’Security has been beefed up in the surrounding areas following firing incident during the night’’ a police source said.

Looking at the modus operandi of militants to duck the security forces by firing at one place to manage infiltration, security forces have activated their intelligence machinery to gather information in the area, the source said.

Security forces were trying to ensure that no infiltration has taken place from the IB after the firing incident, source added. (UNI)
