Jammu, May 8 (KMW) :A Selection Grade Constable of the Jammu and Kashmir Police was seriously injured in a cross-firing between the two police parties conducting anti-militancy operation, in mountainous Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Two separate teams of police personnel conducting anti-militancy operation mistakenly engaged each other in a gun-battle due to ''an error of judgment'' in the forested Gandoh area of Doda district.
The policemen understood the mistake only after some ammunition were fired, the officer said, adding, ‘‘one policeman, identified as Abdul Rashid Khandey, was seriously injured in the firing incident.'' ''However, the detailed report on how the mistake happened is awaited,'' the officer said, adding the wounded constable was shifted to the Government District Hospital Doda for treatment.
