Srinagar, Jun 12 (KMW): The chairman of the is faction of Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani was arrested from his Hyderpora residence here today.Mr Geelani had been put under house arrest since last night. He said Mr Geelani was arrested by the police and lodged in Police Station Humhama in the central Kashmir. Mr Geelani was to attend Nimaz-e-Jinazah of a senior Jamaat-e-Islami leader at Sopore today, he said. He was later scheduled to attend repentance prayer meeting for the improvement in the weather at Hazratbal shrine, which houses the Holy Relic of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). After the death of a 14 year old youth in the down town yesterday, allegedly by security forces firing during demonstrations, authorities had apprehension of trouble today, and the administration has taken Mr. Gilani in preventive custody.
