Srinagar, Jun 1 (KMW): The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) today said the registration of yatris intending to undertake the pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine will start from June 5.
The SASB said here this time the fare of helicopter service has come down.
The registration will start from June 5 at registration counters established in 121 designated branches of Jammu and Kashmir Bank. However, online booking will also be available.
SASB Chief Executive Officer R K Goyal said here the yatra to the holy shrine will commence from Baltal and Pahalgam on July 1, and conclude on the festival of Raksha Bandhan on August 24.
Because of the longer distance and travel time, the registration from Pahalgam route would not be allowed after August 22 while the facility on Baltal route, which is much shorter, will close the next day, he added.
The registration will be done on ''first-come-first-serve basis'', Mr Goyal said, adding the registration counters would remain open from 1500 hrs to 1800 hrs on all working days and 1300 hrs to 1600 hrs on all working Saturdays during the aforesaid period of registration.
This year, the number of designated registration counters has been increased to 121 from 103 last years.
For effective security arrangements, no yatri would be allowed to enter beyond the base camps unless he or she was in possession of a valid yatra permit for a specified date and route.
The CEO appealed to all yatris to complete the necessary formalities for registration and timely obtain a yatra permit in their own interest so that no inconvenience was faced by anyone with regard to the date of his or her yatra and the route to be followed.
