Two CRPF jawans injured in militant firing in Srinagar

Srinagar, Jun 8 (KMW): Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans were injured when militants attacked a roadside bunker in the old city with automatic weapons official sources said today. The attack came at a time when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was in the town. They said militants appeared at Habba Kadal and started to firing at a roadside bunker on the bridge last night. They said two CRPF jawans were injured in the incident, first after several years in the old city. However, one of the injured jawans of 144 battalion was admitted to SMHS hospital while the other was discharged after first aid. Later, security forces conducted searches in the area but the militants had managed to escape under the cover of darkness. No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack.
