26 cross sides on LoC via Uri

Srinagar, 19 Aug 2010: There was no fresh visitor from this part of the Kashmir even as 26 persons crossed over to Line of Control through Karvan-e-Aman bus service, plying on weekly basis across the divided parts of Kashmir.

Official sources said that two first-time visitors from including two first time visitors from Pakistan administered Kashmir arrived here to meet their relatives first time after separation during the Indo-Pak partition in 1947.

The guests travelled from Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pak, to Chakoti, near the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri town of north Kashmir.

 As a part of procedure, the travelers alighted from the bus and crossed the Aman Setu (Peace Bridge) on foot.

The cross-LoC bus was flagged off by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in April 2005. There was no resident of this part of the Kashmir on part of the bus.

There was no fresh visitor from this side part of the Kashmir onboard the bus while 24 Pak residents returned home after completing their 28-days of allotted stay here.
